Veterans Day 2019 started at the Veteran’s memorial at Tyden Park in Hastings.
Snowy and windy today but people came out to show our gratitude for our military people.
We observe Veteran’s Day annually on November 11, six months after Memorial Day to be a way of memorializing those who gave their lives serving America.
Originally called Armistice Day, the holiday commemorated the day the Allied forces and Germany put into effect an armistice on November 11, 1918, signaling an end to the fighting of World War I. The Department of Defense made Veteran’s Day an official holiday in 1938.
Veteran’s Day is observed all across the United States to remember and thank all of our veterans.
