Hastings Jingle & Mingle 2017 is a family fun Christmas celebration for everyone the first weekend in December each year. This is the “Hastings” way to start the Christmas season.
All of the events are family friendly and FREE.
Friday night features arts and crafts show at the Hastings Public Library
The nativity Scene is dedicated by Hastings Mayor Tossava and local pastors. This is a great reminder of why we celebrate Christmas.
The Mayor’s Christmas tree is the next to be dedicated. School children sing carols to add to the festivities. The Prince and Princess Essay contest winners are crowned here and light up the Mayor’s tree.
Carriage rides are taking place through the downtown area. Cozy up, sing a song or two and enjoy the evening in the one horse carriage in downtown Hastings.
The Holly Trolley is making trips around Hastings with Tommy Vale on board with his sax. Merry music is here tonight.
Santa is waiting for the young and young at heart at Dick’s Barber Shop.
Saturday starts off with the Santa Dash 5K run. Dress as your favorite elf or yourself and take a quick run this morning.
Cookies with Santa is taking place at the Hastings Public Library where you can have your face painted and vote for your favorite gingerbread house.
The first Broomball tournament takes place Saturday at the Barry county Enrichment Center. Sportsmanship is seen here even with the fierce competition. The Hewitt family is the tournament winner with Barry County Christian School as the 2nd place winner. A golden broom is given as the traveling trophy.
Wagon and Carriage rides are taking place again Saturday and Sunday by common Gentry Carriage Co. Local merchants have sponsored the rides for everyone. Be sure to thank them.

Write your letter to Santa today at At Home Real Estate. The Hastings Post Office will be there to make sure Santa gets your letter in plenty of time.
Santa’s workshop is taking place across the street where the children can make a craft to take home.
Get a sample of the Nutcracker by Step ‘N Time Dance Studio and The Revue at the Spray Plaza. This is just a sample of the complete show they are giving in Nashville over the next few weeks.
The Hastings Rotary club organizes the Hastings Christmas Parade. This years theme is “Light up the Night”. Floats large and small are decorated with lights and children.
After the parade eat, drink and be merry in downtown restaurants with “Spirits of Christmas”. Meal and drink specials will be available at various restaurants around town so no one has to leave the festivities.
Sunday events include:
Pancake breakfast with Santa in the tent on the corner of State and Jefferson Streets. Children of all ages are having breakfast prepared by Seasonal Grille Catering.
Wagon and Carriage rides and the Holly Trolley are still taking place today through down town.
The reindeer are here from the North Pole for a petting zoo. Come and see if you can tell how they fly on Christmas eve.
The Candy Canes are lost on the Court House lawn, send the children to see if they can find them and win a prize.
Try a bit of chili in the annual chili contest. “It’s a Chili Winter” held in various stores around town.
Take a look in the store windows for the Scavenger Hunt and win a prize.
Children can enjoy crafts and games in the tent.
