Horse Pull at Charlton Park

Only one more day for Barry County Fair. The photos that I entered this year were: Portrait – The Congers (2nd place), Charlton Park’s horse pull (1st place), Battle Creek’s balloon festival skyline (3rd place), YMCA Camp Algonquin (1st place), and the columbines from my spring garden (1st place). Overall, not bad.

The baseball photo is one that a student of mine made. He is going to be a great photographer!

LOCAL PHOTOGRPEHR HONORED WITH PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR

LOCAL PHOTOGRPHER ROSE HENDERSHOT OF PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY IN HASTINGS, MICHIGAN was awarded the Photographer of the Year award at the annual meeting of Michigan Triangle Professional Photographers of Michigan.

The award is based upon points earned through the annual print competition, print of the month, attending monthly meetings, and publishing articles in the monthly newsletter. The member with the most total points at the end of April each year is awarded Photographer of the Year at the annual meeting. This years competition was very close with less than 20 points difference between the top 5 photographers.

The whole idea behind this award is to honor an outstanding photographer who participates in print competition and is also involved in the group meetings on a monthly basis and shares their ideas in the newsletter. It will only make our organization stronger and promote personal growth to the members.

The Michigan Professional Photographers convention was this week. I got another blue ribbon on this photo of Chris Morse. Thanks Chris for being a great subject.

The Soloist

I will be watching to see if someone this year will be a new competition entry for 2011.

The first round of competition for the 2010 season was November 10, 2009. I did very well with my entries. Here are two of them for you to see. I received the Best of Category award for the fisherman and blue ribbons on 3 of my entries with a red ribbon on the 4th.

Christopher and his trumpet was my highest scoring print from this round. When we worked on his senior portraits we decided to do some fun ones and this is what we got.

Fishing Georgia Style

The fisherman was from my trip to visit my aunt in Georgia in March. It was raining a bit but this fellow was still fishing.

The next round of competition isn’t until early spring.

I compete in local events as well as the ones just for professional photographers. Come in and see more winning images.

My Own Display Wall

The prints here are in the Open Class exhibit at Barry County Fair this week. I have 4 Blue ribbons (First Place) and 1 Red Ribbon (Second Place).

Wild Hare

The Bunny Sessions this spring were spectacular! This is one of the bunnies we had. Her name is Wild Hare because she looks like a wild bunny. She is actually quite friendly. Put your name on the list for Bunny Sessions 2010!

This photo of Ever After was taken as part of a birthday party that I photographed there last month. A beautiful location tucked in right here in Hastings. This birthday party was a lot of fun and the birthday person is only 70? young!!!
