Rose Hendershots' work has received recognition and won many awards from organizations including Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of Michigan, Michigan Triangle Professional Photographers Association, Barry County Fair, Michigan State Fair and many others. Several awards are in the international competitions that she participates in.

AT&T Telephone Company has used Rose's photos on the cover of their telephone books. The Hastings book has had her photos three times and the Wayland book has one for 2010. Rose's photos have also been used in the Barry County Tourism Guide and many other publications.

Rose's work is often displayed around the Hastings area in places like Mainstreet Savings Bank, Thornapple Manor, Barry County Chamber of Commerce, and The Walldorff Brewpub and Bistro. Rose actively participates with The Thornapple Arts Council and with Art Hop in Hastings and Delton and soon Wayland.

Rose has photographed many weddings, class reunions, wedding anniversary parties, retirement parties, and Chamber events all with confidence and appreciation of the moment. Rose has a special talent for making people feel comfortable in front of her camera.

When not working the parties or events, Rose enjoys working with families large and small. Taking special care to show each person at their best often in their own surroundings. From the newborn baby to the senior in a nursing home, Rose will give you her undivided attention. Each person has value and dignity and Rose will do her best to make you feel good about who you are.

Barry Great Start collaborative will be using photos from Rose for their website in 2010 and 2011. We are looking for children ages 0-5 in all areas of Barry County to feature on this site. You will be asked to sign a release to have your photo used. (barrygreatstart.org)

Some of Rose's achievements

Founding Photographic Memory in 1997, whose name was suggested by Rose's loving mother Mary Burpee.

In 1999, Rose was featured on Barnaby's World, a regular local television segment.

Very special recognition came in 2000 for her work depicted on the Jones Soda bottle labels. A young infant boy, with a startled look on his face graces the bottles of Jones' Vanilla Cola and is distributed nationally. The baby, Jonathan Tait, now 11 years old, is the son of Tonya Van Dergeld, Grand Rapids and the grandson of Cathy Morgan and Max Morgan of Hastings.

Since that time, Rose has earned recognition for her photography beginning in 2001 with many awards in Michigan and on the national level as a professional photographer, which includes her work with children and wedding portraits in addition to her Fine Art work.

In 2004, she won a national award for two of her scenic prints.

In 2005 to present Rose has won many national and state awards on Fine Art prints of many subjects some of which are displayed on this website.

In 2005 Rose Hendershot's print Swan Lake won the coveted Loan Print award at Professional Photographers of America print competition. This is the highest print award given. The print is exhibited in many countries around the world and placed in the Loan Collection book published each year by Marathon Press. Less than 5% of all prints entered in competition are given the award of Loan.

In 2006 Rose was in the Top Seven Photographers in Michigan and was awarded a plaque at the Professional Photographers of Michigan convention.

In 2006 Rose earned the title Photographer of the Year at Michigan Triangle Professional Photographers Association annual meeting.

In 2007 Rose was runner up in the Photographer of the Year contest at Michigan Triangle Professional Photographers Association annual meeting.

In 2008 Rose was promoted to President of Michigan Professional Photographers Association!

Rose continues to work for recognition for her work with Fine Art and portrait and event photography.
